Equine

In the early 1900s, many Northerners discovered the mild weather and convenient location of Camden and started a wintering trend here. These guests revived Camden’s equestrian activity first begun in 1802 and oversaw the construction of a steeplechase course. Their efforts inaugurated the running of the prestigious Carolina Cup in 1930. Horses have become a sport, business and personal love for Camden over the years.
